E. Brătilă, S. Vlădăreanu, C. Berceanu, M. Cîrstoiu, C. Mehedințu, D. Comandașu

Rezumat: The mechanisms of urinary continence are still controversial and poorly understood. We present in this paper the main concept concerning the physiology of urinary continence. According to the more recent data, we sustain the “Integral Theory of Urinary Continence” of Scandinavians Petros and Ulmsten as the most comprehensive physiology of continence. Based on evidence of the spectacular worldwide spreading of some surgical techniques as “IVS” or “TVT” as the golden standard for all types of urinary incontinence, we are convinced that this fact represents a hope for future.
Cuvinte cheie: urinary incontinence, intergral theory of urinary continence, pelvic anatomy.
