Rezumat: Premature birth occurs between 24 and 37 weeks of gestation and is one of the main concerns of obstetrics. It also represents an important public health issue. This complicates 5% to 12% pregnancies and is a leading cause of morbidity and neonatal mortality worldwide. A significant percentage of the annual number of births is represented by premature births. We performed a retrospective study over one year period (2012), which included tocolysis with hexoprenaline. We analized both the effectiveness (the result of tocolysis) and the safety (incidence of adverse reactions). Clinical Hospital „Prof. Dr. Panait Sîrbu”, by taking care of pregnant women with preterm labor or premature birth, has a large numer of cases. In tocolysis more agents are used: atosiban, hexoprenaline, magnesium sulfate, calcium blockers (nifedipine), indomethacin. The most commonly used tocolytic in the clinic is hexoprenaline. Hexoprenaline proved to be effective and safe in tocolysis. The most common reactions were tachycardia and palpitations.
Cuvinte cheie: hexoprenaline, tocolysis, premature birth, tachycardia, palpitations.
