Gingival bleeding in pregnancy

A.A. Iliescu, P. Perlea, M. Mitran, L. Mitran, M.G. Iliescu, I.M. Gheorghiu

Rezumat: The bacterial consortium of dental plaque initiates and supports the inflammatory processes within the periodontium. In pregnant women, the gingival bleeding is a common clinical occurrence of periodontal inflammation. The adequate anti-inflammatory treatment stops the gingival treatment but does not cancel the pathogenic mechanism already initiated before applying the treatment. Post-therapeutic improvement of periodontal health status, even though ceasing the gingival bleeding, has no correlation with lowering the risk degree of pregnancy outcomes. The gingival anti-inflammatory treatment is truly effective only in case is initiated during early period of pregnancy or even before of conception.
Cuvinte cheie: pregnancy, gingival bleeding, treatment efficiency.
