Epinephrine-induced Takotsubo cardiomyopathy during laparoscopic myomectomy

N. Rusu, M. Rusu, E. Brătilă

Rezumat: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy consists in transient leftventricle dysfunction and ST abnormalities, mimicking acute myocardial infarction in the absence of coronary artery disease. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is more prevalent in women than in men and has been linked ta supraphysiological levels of plasma catecholamine. Laparoscopic myomectomy, a minimally invasive procedure performed for the management of uterine leiomyomas, involves a challenging aspect: excessive local bleeding. Epinephrine solutions used to improve surgical hemostasis have been previously associated with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, thus highlighting the importance of patient safety measures in the perioperative period.
Cuvinte cheie: cardiomyopathy, epinephrine, myomectomy.
