Paracetamol during pregnancy: how safe is it?

M. Boț, A. Tecuci, A. Petca, M. Zvâncă, S. Vlădăreanu

Rezumat: Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is the most commonly used analgesic and antipyretic during pregnancy. Research suggests that acetaminophen use in pregnancy is associated with abnormal fetal neurodevelopment (an increased risk for neurodevelopmental impairment − ADHD, autism and hyperactivity symptoms). Paracetamol causes language delay (less than 50 words at 30 months of age). Other recent studies describe the association of urogenital male malformations after prenatal paracetamol exposure.
Cuvinte cheie: paracetamol, fetal neurodevelopment, ADHD, language delay.
