Ventricular septal defect - types and natural history

A. Bruja, M. Mitran, E. Brătilă

Rezumat: Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is one of the most common congenital heart malformations. It may be in the form of a congenital isolated cardiac abnormality or may be part of other complex cardiac malformations such as Fallot tetralogy, double outlet right ventricle, common arterial trunk etc. Intracardiac cell necrosis events, intracardiac blood flow disorders, cellular apoptosis abnormalities, and other events are incriminated in the development of the ventricular septal defect. Therefore, VSD can be found in all anomalies and syndromes. Regarding the natural evolution of this pathology, the size and location of the defect have an essential role.
Cuvinte cheie: ventricular septal defect, natural history, complex cardiac malformations, Fallot tetralogy.
