D.E. Soare, C. Mehedințu, R.E. Bohîlțea

Rezumat: Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune neuromuscular disorder characterized by the presence of nicotinicreceptor auto-antibodies which reduce the number of these receptors within the muscular junction. It is twice as common among women at a young age than men, so it may occur during pregnancy. We report the case of a 20-year-old pacient, with a pregnancy of 34 weeks, known with a generalized form of myasthenia gravis for 4 years who is admitted to our clinic for pregnancy monitoring. She also requires treatement for a urinary infection with Klebsiella which led to ureterohydronephrosis on the right kidney. This infection caused a myasthenic crisis before presentation. The pregnancy was carried to term and the pacient gave birth to a male baby with a weight of 2650 grams. In conclusion, the evolution of a pregnant pacient with myasthenia gravis is unpredictable and it requires careful monitoring from a multidisciplinary team.
