The post-partum depression

D. Stan, M. Mitran

Rezumat: The post-partum depression is a mental disorder frequently met not only in mothers but also in their partners in the first months after the childbirth. The early recognition of its signs and symptoms by the medical staff from the obstetrics and gynecology departments or by the general practitioner, as well as the administration of an appropriate treatment will determine a favourable prognosis of the evolution of this disorder and also the best conditions for the newborn to grow. There is a need for a prenatal screening to detect the women who present such a risk in developing this disorder and for their supervision in the first months after birth.
Cuvinte cheie: post-partum depression, pharmacological treatment, psychotherapy.
