Leiomyoma with secundary infertility of 8 years, treated with ulipristal acetate (UPA) - case report

Rezumat: Leiomyomas or fibroids are benign hormonesensitive tumors of uterine smooth-muscle cells, that occur in about 20-40% of women of reproductive age. Heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure and pain, reproductive dysfunction are common symptoms that impair women’s health and the quality of life. Surgical interventions still dominate the current treatment strategy. Since February 2012, ulipristal acetate (UPA) is approved in Europe and became a choise for many women wishing to avoid surgery and preserve fertility. Our case report is proving the efficacy of UPA in the medical management of myomas and the infertility cure. Myoma significant regression leads to pregnancy.
