Rezumat: Obesity is an essential characteristic of a growing number of pregnant women worldwide. Adipose tissue acts like an endocrine organ through a wide range of adipokines and substances that it produces. The underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of metabolic changes implied in pregnancy outcomes are not entirely understood. Metabolic syndrome (MS) in pregnancy is associated with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), preeclampsia, premature birth or prolonged pregnancy. The majority of these patients give birth by caesarean section (CS). Pregnancy evolution, labor and birth in SM obese and GDM patients have some particular features. The pathophysiology of these mechanisms is a subject of extended scientific investigation in order to improve care and management of these patients. The aim of this study is to find correlations between changes in metabolic parameters in a group of pregnant patients with MS and correlate them with the latest scientific data.
Cuvinte cheie: obesity, pregnancy, adipokines, metabolism, fetal development.
